【摘要】:Normally,thebasicsoildataaregatheredbytrainedpersonnelduringthefieldinvestigationphaseofastudy.Eachagencyorcompanyhasitsownmethodsofobtaining,recording,andstoringtheinformation.Usually,thesedataarerecordedontoformsthatservebothinorganizingtheinformationinthefieldandtheoffice,andoftenasentryformsforacomputerdatabase.Forsoildatatobeofmaximumvaluetothecurrentprojectandanyfuturestudies,especiallythoseinvolvedintheassessmentoftheenvironment,itisessentialthataminimumsetofkeyidentificationdataelementsberecordedforeachsamplingsite.Whenobtainingbasicdataconcerningasubsurfacesoilsamplingsite,itisnecessarytothoroughlyidentifythatsamplingsitesothatitmaybereadilylocatedagainwithminimaluncertaintyandmaybeaccuratelyplottedandinterpretedfordataparametersinrelationshiptoothersamplingsites.Forexample,informationcanbepresentedonmapsandinsummarytables(seePracticeD3740).1.1Thispracticecoverswhatinformationshouldbeobtainedtouniquelyidentifyanysoilsamplingorexaminationsitewhereanabsoluteandrecoverablelocationisnecessaryforqualitycontrolofthestudy,suchasawastedisposalproject.Theminimumsetofdataelementsforsamplingsiteidentification(DEFFSI)wasdevelopedconsideringtheneedsforinformationaldatabases,suchasgeographicinformationsystems(GIS).Otherdistinguishingdetails,suchasindividualsitecharacteristicshelpinsingularlycatalogingthesite.Forstudiesthatarenotenvironmentallyregulated,suchasforanagriculturalorpreconstructionsurvey,thedataspecificationsestablishedanagencyorcompanymaybedifferentfromthatoftheminimumset(seeGuideD420andPracticeD5254).1.2Asusedinthispractice,asoilsamplingsiteismeanttobeasinglepoint,notageographicareaorproperty,locatedbyanX,Y,andZcoordinatepositionatlandsurfaceorafixeddatum.Allsoildatacollectedforthesitearedirectlyrelatedtothecoordinateposition,forexample,samplefromxfeet(ormetres)orsamplefromintervalx1tox2ft(ormetres)belowtheX,Y,andZcoordinateposition.Asoilsamplingsitecanincludeatestwell,augeredorboredhole,excavation,grabsample,testpit,sidewallsample,streambed,oranyothersitewheresamplesofthesoilcanbecollectedorexaminedforthepurposeintended.1.3Thecollectionofsoilsamplesisadisruptiveprocedureasthematerialisusuallyextractedfromitsnaturalenvironmentandthentransportedfromthesitetoalaboratoryforanalysis.Normally,inthishighlyvariabletypeofmaterial,theadjacentsoilprofilewillnotbepreciselythesameasthesampledsoil.Forthesereasons,whensoilsamplesareremovedthesamematerialcannotbecollectedfromthesitelater.Therefore,itisessentialthattheminimumsetofDEFSSIbethoroughlydocumentedandidentifiedespeciallywithanaccuratelocation.1.4Samplesofsoil(sediment)filteredfromthewaterofstreams,rivers,orlakesarenotinthescopeofthispractice.Note18212;Therearemanyadditionaldataelementsthatmaybenecessarytoidentifyandtodescribeasoilsamplingsite,butarenotinclude......
