【摘要】:Thepurposeofradiationtreatment,asdiscussedinthisguide,istominimizethepestriskandtomaximizethesafetyassociatedwiththemovementanduseoffreshagriculturalproduce.Irradiationasaphytosanitarytreatmentcanpreventdevelopmentoremergenceoftheadultstagewhereadultsarenotpresentintheagriculturalproduce(forexample,fruitflies)orsterilizetheadultwherethatstageispresent(forexample,weevils).(4)1.1Thisguideprovidesproceduresfortheradiationprocessingoffreshagriculturalproduce,forexample,fruits,vegetables,andcutflowers,asaphytosanitarytreatment.Thisguideisdirectedprimarilytowardthetreatmentneededtocontrolregulatedpestscommonlyassociatedwithfreshagriculturalproduce.1.2Thetypicalabsorbeddoserangeusedforphytosanitarytreatmentsisbetween150gray(Gy)and600gray(Gy).Thepracticalminimumormaximumdoseofatreatmentmaybehigherorlowerthanthisrange,dependingonthetypeofpesttobecontrolledandtheradiationtoleranceofaparticulartypeoffruit.Iftheminimumeffectivedosenecessarytoachievethedesiredphytosanitaryeffectisgreaterthantheradiationtoleranceoftheproduce,thenirradiationisnotanappropriatetreatment(see).Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
